  64. This package contains Jot Note Manager 1.22, by Michael J Marshall. This
  65. document provides a brief description of the package and how to use it.
  66. More complete documentation can be accessed after this product is
  67. installed.

  69. Do you use MS Cardfile? Do you get totally frustated after entering only
  70. a few lines of data and cannot enter any more? You have hundreds of
  71. fonts on your system, would you like a note utility that lets you
  72. display and print with them? How about printing in multiple columns,
  73. print preview, a toolbar, a search/replace facility?

  75. If this is what you want, then Jot is what you need!

  77. Jot is available in two editions: a 16-bit Windows 3.x edition, and a
  78. 32-bit Windows NT 3.51 edition (also suitable for Windows 95).

  80. Jot is not free; it is shareware. You may evaluate this software for up
  81. to thirty (30) days without charge. If you like the program and wish to
  82. continue using it after the evaluation period, you are required to

  112. ===== Installation =====================================

  114. The installation procedure for JOT is quite simple.  The
  115. package includes a program, "SETUP.EXE", which automates the
  116. entire process.  You will need about 700KB of available disk space
  117. on the hard drive on which you plan to install JOT.
  118.  
  119. The exact steps you need to take will depend on how you received
  120. JOT.
  121.

  123. INSTALLING FROM DISKETTES
  124.  
  125. To install from diskette(s), you need to perform the following steps.
  126.  
  127.    o  Place JOT distribution diskette "Disk 1" in the appropriate
  128.       diskette drive.
  129.  
  130.    o  Execute the "SETUP.EXE" program on the distribution diskette.
  131.       For example, if the distribution diskette is on drive A:, type
  132.       the MS-DOS command, "a:install".
  133.  
  134.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.
  135.       You will have a chance to approve installation before any changes
  136.       are actually made to the contents of your hard drive.  The
  137.       program will ask you for a destination directory, and will copy
  138.       the JOT files to that directory.  If you received JOT
  139.       on two diskettes, you will need to insert Disk 2 in the diskette
  140.       drive when asked to do so.  If you so direct it, the installation
  141.       program will install executable programs and documentation in
  142.       other directories of your choice.  It will make no other changes;
  143.       specifically, it will not modify your autoexec.bat or config.sys
  144.       files.

  147. INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE
  148.  
  149. If you downloaded JOT from a BBS (or received it in the form of
  150. archive files from some other source), you will need to perform the
  151. following steps.
  152.  
  153.    o  Extract the contents of the archive file(s) in a temporary
  154.       directory on your hard drive.  The procedure for doing this
  155.       varies, depending on the form in which you received the package.
  156.       In all likelihood, the fact that you are reading this text means
  157.       that you already have the necessary tools and knowledge to
  158.       perform this step.  If not, you should be able to obtain
  159.       directions for this from the same source from which you received
  160.       the package.
  161.  
  162.    o  Execute the "SETUP.EXE" program which you have extracted.  For
  163.       example, if the temporary directory into which you have extracted
  164.       the JOT package is C:\TEMPDIR, you would execute the MS-DOS
  165.       command, "c:\tempdir\setup".
